Carlos Alfredo Berguido

Attorney at Law from the Santa Maria la Antigua University in Panama City. Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a Major in Accounting, from the Robins School of Business Administration, University of Richmond, in Virginia, USA. He holds the technical certification of Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) by the Insurance Institute of America / American Institute of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters, and he completed the Life Insurance Seminar at Munich Re.

He is the Executive President of the Panama Banking Association. He served as Executive Director of the Panamanian Association of Insurers. He has practiced Law for more than 30 years as legal advisor to the Insurance Association, and to important insurance and reinsurance companies, whom ha has also represented as defense litigator, at both the ordinary and the arbitration jurisdictions. He has ample experience in Banking Corporate, Commercial, Estate and Real Estate. He is a Registered Arbiter at the Panama Centerfor Conciliation and Arbitration.

During his professional career, he has held several leadership positions as executive and asmember of the board of directors of several insurance companies and banks. Since 2015 he has been included in the AM Best Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys; and wasfor several years a Professor of Insurance Law at the Santa Maria La Antigua University.

Juan Ramón Jaén

Attorney at Law from the Santa Maria la Antigua University in Panama City. He has practiced Law for more than 30 years, and has represented clients on a wide rangeof issues and transactions, specializing in Commercial, Real Estate and Land, Labor, Administrative Law, and litigation in general.

He is a member of the National College of Lawyers; the National Association of Cattlemen, and the Lions Club of Panama, occupying several directive positions. He is the founding Secretary of the Lions Club of Panama Foundation; Vice President and Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the Santo Tomas Hospital in Panama City.

Melva Gutiérrez

Attorney at Law from the Santa Maria la Antigua University in Panama City. Master in International Business Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. She has certificates in Risk and Insurance, from the Insurance School of Chile, and a ISO 31000 certification in Risk Management, from Risk Mexico.

She has practiced Law for more than 10 years, with an emphasis on Insurance Law and Compliance, as well as Corporate and Commercial Law. She has advised insurance and reinsurance companies, and worked as Legal Manager and Compliance Officer. She has been an instructor in Money Laundering prevention and related topics.

Fanny Amador

Attorney at Law from the Santa Maria la Antigua University in Panama City. Withnearly 30 years of experience, she is an expert advisor on the Prevention of Money Laundering, and issues related to Corporate Governance, Ethics, Anticorruption, including the design or policy and manuals. She served in the Judiciary, the Attorney General’s Office, the Superintendency of the Securities Market, and as Compliance Officer at a Securities House. Currently, she is Legal Advisor at the Panama Banking Association.

She is registered as a Mediator at the Ministry of Government and Justice, and a Member of the Compliance Officers Association of Panama.

Concepción González

Attorney at Law, from the University of Panama, with more than 45 years of experience as a leading expert in Labor Law.

During his long career, exclusively dedicated to all aspects of Labor Law, he has been an advisor, consultant and litigator, in all stages of the Labor Law process. He has been a mediator, and negotiator of Collective Bargains with Labor Unions, in representation of entities, associations, companies and business conglomerates.

He was an arbitrator, appointed by the Republic of Panama, at the Nutrition Institute of Central America and Panama, of the World Health Organization. He is also a Registered Arbiter at the Panama Center for Conciliation and Arbitration, and before the Panama Canal Authority`s, for Labor conflicts.

Camilo A. Valdés M.

He has a Master’s Degree in Commercial Law, a Postgraduate Degree in Tax Law, a Postgraduate Degree in International Tax Law and a Doctorate in Law. He completed his higher education at the University of Panama, at the University Santa Maria La Antigua in Panama City and at the University of Salamanca, Spain.

He has been a professor of Financial and Tax Law at Universidad Santa María La Antigua since 2007. He was a Member of the Negotiating Team of Tax Treaties of the Republic of Panama and First Director of the International Taxation and Tax Information Exchange Units of the General Directorate of Revenue of the Ministry of Economy and Finance; he worked at KPMG Panama and was a member of the firm Tapia, Linares & Alfaro.

As of July 1, 2024, he begins the exercise of public functions in charge of the General Directorate of Revenue of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, for which he has a temporary license at KBK Abogados.
